Ms. Betty Glascoe
Former Director of Career Services Center and Special Asst. to the VP of Student Affairs
In her 25 years at UMBC, Betty Glascoe served both as special assistant to the vice president of Student Affairs and as director of the Career Services Center. In the latter position, she helped the office grow from a one-person organization to a thriving center for employment assistance. She also initiated the University’s first cooperative education program and was awarded the Presidential Distinguished Professional Staff Award in 2001. Now retired, Glascoe serves as president of BJG Enterprises, LLC, which provides training, employment recruitment, consulting, educational research, program development and coaching for a variety of clients.
Of her years at UMBC, Glascoe said she always appreciated hearing about the successes of students who had worked with her at the Career Services Center. “Regardless of how badly my day may have started off, I could always get that special shot of adrenaline when I walked on the campus and saw students.”
