Ms. Cynthia M. Hill
Associate Provost
In her 31 years at UMBC, Cynthia M. Hill has demonstrated her devotion to minority students in a variety of ways, first as a member of the Residential Life staff, then as director of Student Support Services and the TRIO, Upward Bound and Ronald E. McNair Scholars programs and finally with responsibilities at the administrative level of associate provost.
She has practiced her own personal philosophy of ensuring that minority students get the support, in whatever form they may need, so they will become successful graduates. Although she originally planned to work for a historically black college or university, Hill determined early on that she could make a serious impact at UMBC. “I take personal pride in knowing that something I either said or did with them may have contributed in some small way to their success. I realize significant intrinsic reward from my work with and behalf of students. It gives me great joy to observe their academic and personal growth and development.”
